[Patreon Update] Kalyskah 0.19.0


Just wanted to let you all know that our Patreon build of the game has had a huge update this week!

This release was probably the one that gave us the biggest amount of work in a while, but we also realised that it's the release with the biggest number of new features in a long time!

We are introducing the puppeteers guild here and also adding some activities to be done in their place, the new skill tree system, some climax effects and more! 

Fixes

  • Fixed male characters textures and also James’ beard;
  • Fixed interaction key not representing the key set by the player on the menu;
  • Fixed tooltips at the shop;
  • Fixed buying items with a gamepad;
  • Fixed alchemist antics quest saying that it failed every time an hour passed;
  • Fixed eye-tracking for Kalyskah and NPCs;
  • Fixed character and subtitles that sometimes continued to play even though the player is on another dialogue line;
  • Fixed 2d sounds not making lipsync play properly for the characters;
  • Fixed crystal hound death sounds being heard in the whole world;
  • Fixed issue that was causing selecting a piece of equipment with the left click equip and unequip them real quickly;
  • Fixed appearance reset button on character customisation screen, so the sliders will now be properly set to the values they should be;

Enhancements

  • Added missing characters to the gallery, also organized the order they will show up in the menu by alphabetical order;
  • Fleeing NPCs will now try to find a place to hide from Kalysakh's sight after she attacks them;
  • Ranged NPCs will be smarter and search for a better place to shoot Kalyskah and to move around the battlefield without feeling like they are just going around at random;
  • Improved textures on bun hairstyle, so it doesn’t look weird when you have a brighter hair colour;
  • Removed stamina lost in many animations and added more arousal gain to make toysystem minigame more trivial until we redo it properly;
  • Loot will be dropped when the enemy dies instead of a second later;

Features

  • Added an option to activate V-Sync  on the menu;


  • Added a notification when Kalysakh gets or loses an item, which is useful for players to quest rewards and things of the sort;
  • New climax effects (With save\load): Improved the aesthetics of when a male character’s climax touches Kalyskah so it will paint her skin. This effect will be cleaned if she swims or uses the skill “Clean Yourself” (Which costs nothing to unlock). In the future we’ll make that rain also cleans her;

  • Toysystem camera will now go up and down when the player press ctrl and space (But we noticed that for reason the game will crash if it is colliding with something when you use these two inputs. We’ll investigate and fix this soon;
  • New area on the game, Puppeteers Club. After completing the quest Kalyskah will be able to snap in and out of the devices there, and if she’s in a device, other NPCs might come and interact with her to start a sex scene. The player can choose if she’ll be approached by males, females, or both. Eventually, there will be a small dialogue before a scene starts as well;
  • Kalyskah can also interact with NPCs that are tied up on one of the devices described above, but the animations will be different since she’s not the one that is tied;
  • NPCs will interact with each other if there’s someone tied up next to them;
  • The player can now invert the control axis and also adjust the sensibility of the controller;
  • Dom NPCs will not be tied up, but they will interact when a sub NPC (or player) is tied to a device;
  • Created a new type of interactable object that will enable NPCs to change to a substate machine when they interact with it, so the roaming AI will go to puppeteer Ai once the puppeteer character's working time starts. This means that in the future we can have special behaviours for when guards are patrolling Millhaven, bandits roaming around roads and so on. It’s a huge step to the future of our AI!

Skill tree system: 

The player can use skill points to get powers instead of attributes. Some skills might cost more than others and the player can also assign keys for them. Notice that controllers have fewer inputs so the options are more limited. But we will figure out a way to make it work on controllers as well as it works on the Keyboard;


  • New Spell – Celerity: Kalyskah will be able to move at an inhuman speed, perceiving the world in slow motion. While this skill is active, she’ll lose blood points and also won’t be able to recover stamina;
  • New Spell – Dark Ascending: You might have seen this one being used on the video revealing archery. But basically, it makes Kalyskah float in the air for a while, you can move her up and down. Her stamina will be drained while this spell is active, but the speed it drains depends on her speed as well, so if she floats without moving, she’ll float for longer;
  • New Spell – Dark Shot: Kalyskah will send a “shadow smoke” that will bounce around and hit enemies. Her power is similar to the one you’ve seen the Acolytes using, but her’s is slower but lasts for longer;
  • New Spell – Clean Yourself: Use it to clean climax effects from Kalyskah;

Known issues

  • Sometimes, moving the toysystem camera up and down using Ctrl and Spacebar will cause the game to crash. We’ll solve this on another patch.
  • There’s no visual thing saying that people at the puppeteers are searching for someone to interact with, or just roaming around randomly. Testing the game I realised that we should probably add this sort of thing and also later, add a dialogue where Kalyskah can ask them to start an interaction with her. But their improvements will be done in parallel with other tasks.
  • Kalyskah can sometimes be in the wrong position on the part of the cutscene where she kisses Adele’s hand.
  • Havier’s teeth are looking weird but we’ll fix it too.
  • Natasha's breasts are with strange physics at the gallery menu

You might notice that the game won't auto-update for our patrons on this build. This happens because we had to create a new page on itch.io for this version since it took us a while to realise that itch wasn't really working requesting the monthly pledge from patron and was updating the game even when the pledge was inactive.

So following the advice of other fellow developers that also release their games through itch, we'll start to create new pages for every version of the game So for example, versions like 0.19.1 or 0.19.2 will be released on the same page as the current one because the third number of a version is always a hotfix or completing the implementation of something planned for a version. This means that hotfixes will update automatically like they always did, but once we move to version 0.20.0, we'll create a new page for that version for our active patrons at that time to download. 

At the end of the day, what changes is that from now on, you'll get a new link in every update post on Patreon that will give you access to the latest version, and if it's a hotfix and the game is already in your itch library, it will update automatically.

I highly recommend the game, although the game has bugs, it is not very annoying. Especially in the gallery when you use the animations. The game takes a lot of resources, so I advise people with a low performance PC to set the graphics settings to the lowest, the game will be optimized later.  I really hope there will be a Steam version available, I like to have all my games in one place, and that updates happen automatically. I also hope you will add actions that can be done during animations, that don't cancel the current animation, which is done live during the animation.

And yes, we should have a new patch addressing performance released next month here. Unfortunately, we are basically remaking the game to have this fixed for good. So the next patch will have way much less content in terms of quests but the new intro and Kalyskah's powers will be a breath of fresh air in the game =)

for me the game is crazy bugged out even if i lower all graphics  as low as it goes, after i leave the cave its so bugged i cant enjoy giving the game a try

Sorry for that to happen, and yes, we are aware of the issues for some players after leaving the cave, and that's exactly the performance issue we meant that we are taking care of on that popup message that plays when you open the game for the first time. There should be a public demo addressing this issue within a month, so if you'd like to take a look after the next patch is release, it might be worth it =)
